Happy Year and a Half Anniversary, Ellie-Kate!!!
Has it really been a year and a half? We can't even imagine our lives without Ellie-Kate. She lights up our world, and she truly completes our family. I love her joyous laughter, her boundless energy, her intelligence, her curiosity, her passion for sports, dolls, art, music, and playtime, her love for us... Thank you, thank you, God, for placing this amazing child in our arms exactly a year and a half ago.

Quick Update-- September 19, 2010
What a crazy month that this one has been!!! Four weeks ago, I had emergency surgery for the ruptured appendix... Praise God, I'm now MUCH better, and I have regained about 95% of my energy. Still struggling with the infected incision, but I'm feeling much more like myself...
However, it's been such a bizarre last month, actually, I guess more like five weeks... Unexpected twists and turns have certainly kept us on our toes... The skit team didn't do as well as expected at the state fair, due to a freak costume problem... Britti walked into the Sheep/Goat Barn, even though she was supposed to be in Florida (what an AWESOME surprise!!!!)... Chelsea didn't do as well as expected with her rabbits, even though she did a tremendous job in the ring... I impulsively bought a pen of rabbits and kept one... My appendix ruptured... Roger and the girls got hit on their way to tennis practice, totalling Roger's car while I was in the hospital... And now-- a tornado ripped through Athens on Thursday-- when EVERYONE had always said that no tornado would hit here due to our rolling hills... Praise God, no one was hurt, even though we've heard so many stories about near misses... We have lots of praises... We're grateful for blessings as we realize how much that we depend on God amid the uncertainties of everyday life.
As we look forward to this week, we praise God for bringing us such a tremendous blessing in Ellie-Kate. On Thursday, we will celebrate a year and a half with our precious little girl. Thank you, Lord, for keeping us safe, protecting us, loving us, and uplifting us amid the fragility of everyday life!!!!
Have a great week!!

Saturday, September 18, 2010-- a full day for our family!
Ellie-Kate plays at the mall playground.
Chelsea watches as her little sisters run around the mall playground :)
Emmy enjoys a s'more at the Girl Scout Sing-A-Long at Stroud's Run State Park.
Chelsea Meagan smiles after winning third place at the Marietta Invitational. She lost her first match to Abby from Perry (1-6, 2-6), but she won her second match against Catelyn from Marietta (6-1, 2-6, 7-5). Although she didn't have her best day of tennis, she persisted and managed to win anyway :)

Quick Update-- September 14, 2010
Hi Everyone!
Thanks so much to our friends and family for their well-wishes during the past few weeks. I'm slowly but surely getting better... I have about 90% of my usual energy so that's a plus. As I regain my energy, I'm also fighting an infection that has developed in a half inch gap that has opened up in my incision. However, I'm confident that everything is going to turn out okay. Meanwhile, poor Roger (who has had to keep all of the trains running on time in spite of massive sleep deprivation) has developed a cold; Ellie-Kate has an ear infection, and Chelsea pulled something in her back last Wednesday. It's been a rough patch for us, but God has provided in many, many ways, and the whole experience has really underscored for me just how much that we need Him to pull us through. I praise Him for His timing... If this situation had to occur, I am so grateful that it did so after the fair but in ample time for us all to recover before we leave on our big trip to DisneyWorld to see Britti in October!!!
Meanwhile, we've also been very busy, with the start of school. Chelsea's having a great tennis season and start to junior year; Emmy loves her new teachers in fifth grade, and she is starting band and will play the french horn, and Ellie-Kate is growing like a weed. She loves to laugh, and she adores to play with her panda, Pei-Wei, her baby dolls, puzzles, and any musical instrument that we can find. She wakes up singing her ABC song or "She's Comin' Round the Mountain." She's such a happy baby... Still working on that potty training thing, though :)
We hope that you're having an awesome start to the school year and fall season! Enjoy the pictures that I just posted from the past week :)

Tennis match and belated shopping trip-- September 11-13, 2010
Chelsea shakes hands with her Marietta opponent after winning-- 6-4, 6-0 on September 13.
Serving for the match!
Oh, Chelsea... doing homework while the court dries from a sudden pre-match rainstorm.
Ellie-Kate and Emmy play in the Polaris Mall playground as Chelsea shops for back-to-school clothes on September 11, 2010. We also picked up Emmy's new cello (up to 1/4 size!). After shopping, we stopped at Olive Garden on the way home. A great day-- and, as one of the best parts-- Christie managed to survive the drive and walking with only a bit of pain but LOTS of energy!
