Okay, this night turned out well, but it was stressful to coordinate! After watching the 8th grade volleyball team have a sort of mini-senior night event for the 8th graders, I thought that it would be cool to do something similar for the soccer team. Unfortunately, for the whole season, the seventh graders (and their parents) didn't seem to get the whole "seniority" thing, and that issue reared its ugly head again during planning for this event. A few of them didn't get why the seventh graders wouldn't get this type of recognition too, even though it was the very last time that the 8th graders would play on the field. (heavy sigh!!) Fortunately, on the actual night, everyone was nice and supportive, and the 7th graders even said, wistfully, that they hope that someone does a similar sort of night for them when they're 8th graders. On the plus side, the 8th graders and their parents were very appreciative of the signs, decorations, balloons, and flowers :) Quite the photo op!!
