Happy Birthday to Me!
Hi everyone--
Thanks for all of the prayers yesterday. I felt them, and I am so grateful for all of my friends and, especially, for God's timing in times of trial. Praise God for sending a beaming light in the tunnel!! Literally, the light started shining as soon as I received word that friends were lifting up prayers. God is good-- all of the time!!
I am also so grateful for the many facebook posts and birthday wishes that I have received today. What a blessing to have friends around the world. I truly do love facebook!!
Thank you, Lord, for allowing me to live this long... to have four beautiful, talented, smart, and funny daughters and an amazing husband who actually loves and puts up with me... to have an incredible job with flexibility to contribute in creative ways and to still be the type of mom that I yearn to be... to live in a lovely house nestled in a fantastic community that I am honored to call my home...many, many blessings...
Thanks for following our family! We'll do our best to continue to keep you all amused :)
Fondly-

Hi everyone--
Lots of mixed emotions lately... On the one hand, the kids are doing GREAT! We don't have much drama with tennis this year, and Emmy is enjoying the traveling soccer team. Ellie-Kate loves pre-school so much that she literally cries when she has to leave... okay, a little bit of drama and anxiety there... It's hard not to take it personally, but she LOVES to play, and First Friends has an amazing playground. Even when the kids can't be outside, the school has a HUGE gym area with lots of kid-friendly toys to ride on and toss around. If I were three years old, I wouldn't want to leave playtime and go home for a boring old nap either...
On the other hand, driving to the tennis matches and parades and soccer games is taking its toll. Our house is a disaster area, and the stacks of work stuff continue to mount. Further, Chelsea has some major items to complete (college applications, Gold Award completion form, Ohio Fairs Queen application), plus studying for the SAT, and I feel awful in pressing her to do them when she barely has time to sleep as it is... Fortunately, we're not going to do the college visit to Butler (as planned) so we'll have a bit of time to play catch up. Of course, even though we're not going to IN, we still have back-up activities on the calendar-- Ellie-Kate can go to her dance class and friend's b-day party. Always something...

Hannah and Chelsea pose in front of the "creepy house" at Marietta before the match-- 9/12/11
Sarah, Castle, Holly, Emily, Emily, Chelsea, Meelim, Devon, and Holly look at the water near the court. A pop-up storm drenched the courts, causing the match to be delayed. The girls got in a few games, but the match had to be called due to nightfall. Thus, we're headed back to Marietta sometime soon :)

August 17-September 4, 2011
Hi everyone--
The past few weeks have continued to be a blur for us... Chelsea has had several tennis matches, amassing a great record of 6-2 thus far! She has also attended her first two parades (Parade of the Hills in Nelsonville and Washington County Fair in Marietta) as Athens County Junior Fair Queen, and she has done an amazing job of representing the fair. She's off again tomorrow to the Old Settlers' Day parade in Jacksonville, and she has three more events next week-end-- YIKES!
Emmy has been busy with soccer practice for her traveling team and starting AWANA. Ellie-Kate started AWANA too, and she is enjoying her time as a Cubbie :)
Britti has been in transition as well. She started a job as a leasing consultant for an apartment complex in Athens, and she plans to finish her thesis in the fall and then start more education classes in Winter Quarter. Hopefully, she can become certified to teach in Ohio (as well as Texas) so that she's REALLY marketable in a few years. Her boyfriend, Ramon, moved to OU so that they could be together (awwwwwwww...), and he is very nice. He is very sweet with the little girls, playing soccer with them nearly every day.
The younger three also started school during this time frame-- Chelsea Meagan began her senior year-- wow... Emmy started sixth grade, and Ellie-Kate went back to pre-school. Fortunately, all of them really seem to enjoy school, their teachers, etc.
This week-end was extra fun and exciting because we were joined by the cousins and Aunt Teresa and Uncle Jeff. They drove over on Friday night, and they came with us to the Washington County Fair parade and fair. They loved getting the candy and seeing Chelsea in the parade. They also enjoyed riding rides, eating fair food, and seeing new things, like a tractor pull and a sheep show. It was fun to share a county fair experience with our cousins from the city :)
Hope that all is well with everyone! More soon-
