Emmy was bummed to learn that she wasn't going to be starting the first soccer game of the season against Jackson. After starting every game as a 7th grader, Emmy was looking forward to being a leader of the team. Instead, she was relegated to the sidelines for the first part of the first half. However, when Emmy subbed in at midfielder (and then even as a defender), she really worked hard, hustling all over the field. Her performance impressed the coach, and Emmy started at forward when the second half began. Roger and I looked at each other in disbelief-- Emmy is not the fastest player, and we don't usually think of her as a forward! We were excited for our team to win the game... and for Emmy to get that second half start :)
