Copperhead game-- June 15, 2013
After the Washboard Festival parade, the little girls and I met Roger at the Copperheads baseball game. Even though the Copperheads had a rough night, we all had a wonderful time-- beautiful weather, fun environment, good food-- an overall very relaxing summer evening :)
Happy Summer!

Washboard Festival-- June 15, 2013
Ellie-Kate had her very first parade as a member of the Chauncey-Dover Spring Festival Court-- the Washboard Festival in Logan. She did great in the parade, and Britti, Emmy, and I had a fun time as we walked around the festival and waited for the float to arrive :)
Week of June 10, 2013
Hi everyone--
Well, we could label this week as "Soccer Week!" Emmy had OU soccer camp in the morning, and both Ellie-Kate and Emmy went to the Athens High School soccer camp each night. (Ellie-Kate took one night off to go to t-ball practice...) The girls had fun, but, wow, they were beat by the end of the week. Emmy did well, but a number of seventh graders are coming up and will definitely be competing for spots on the AMS team in the fall.
More soon--

WICKED!!!
On June 9, Britti, Chelsea, and I went up to Columbus for the Broadway touring company presentation of "Wicked." The girls received their tickets as Christmas presents, and, well, I just had to go up as their chauffeur :) As an added bonus, I learned just a few days beforehand that Kim Zimmer (Reva, "Guiding Light") had a principal role in the show.
The show was just amazing! The story was so thought-provoking, and it fit so well with the original, "Wizard of Oz." The songs were awesome, and I haven't been able to stop listening to the soundtrack or get the lyrics out of my mind.
After the show, we headed over to the stage door, and we got to meet the actors who portrayed the male lead as well as "Nessie Rose" (the Wicked Witch of the East) AND Kim Zimmer! Of course, I felt like a bumbling fool as I tried to interact (and awkwardly so!), but it was very amazing to get a photo with this person that I had watched for years on my favorite soap!

First Annual Oakmont Block Party-- June 8, 2013
How wonderful to see the yard and playground filled with so many children and families from Dove, Warwick, and our swection of Carroll!! Emmy is doing a 4-H project called "Party Planner," and, given that we have several new neighbors, we decided to let her plan a block party. She came up with the invitations, theme, and activities. It was so nice to meet new people, and the kids LOVED the chance to play with each other and make new friends.
All of us lead such active, hectic lives, and it was just so delightful to pause, smile, eat a hot dog, and chat with people that we drive by on our way to and from commitments. Perhaps we've entered a new phase of how we enact our little part of Oakmont...

Special day in Columbus-- June 6, 2013
What a day of blessings! We dropped Izzy off at Medvet for a follow up rehab appointment and then headed to Ellie-Kate's opthamalogy appointment. Back in the fall, Ellie-Kate's little friend, Jack, poked her in the eye. As a precaution, we asked Dr. Fogt to look at her, and, during the course of that exam, she noticed that Ellie-Kate's eyes tend to drift out. Six months later, in late May, Dr. Fogt did a follow-up exam and decided that we should visit with a specialist to learn if Ellie-Kate should have corrective surgery to reduce the chance of losing vision. Blessedly, the specialist determined that Ellie-Kate's eyes don't need surgery, but we're going to keep close watch on the situation. Praise God!!
While we were waiting on Izzy to finish up with his rehab appointment, we went to COSI. It's so nice to have a membership, and, if we lived in Columbus, we would be there all of the time! Ellie-Kate LOVES the preschool playground so we spent most of our time in that section after eating lunch and playing for a few minutes in the "Gadgets" section.
Over at Medvet, Dr. Bancroft gave Izzy such an amazing report! He's making great progress, and he did so well during his therapy session that Medvet actually uploaded a video of his rehab session on its Facebook page! He was labeled as a "Super Kitty," and he certainly is :)
