Hi everyone--
Britti and I drove up to Columbus with Izzy for his one week check-up. We are just in awe of Medvet!! The staff members remembered Izzy and called him by name and with a smile. Dr. Bancroft, his rehabilitation therapist, even came right out into the lobby and spoke with us. Both she and Dr. Lovett (Izzy's neurologist) were very positive and encouraging, and they stressed that Izzy had exceeded their expectations! From a cat that literally couldn't move almost two weeks before, he was walking around-- a bit unsteadily, but walking nonetheless. What great news!
We left him for a therapy session in the afternoon, and Britti and I went for a nice lunch at Red Lobster and walk around the mall. We picked up Izzy around 4:30, and they said that he had cooperated nicely with his therapy, laser treatments, and massage-- kind of like a kitty spa! Unfortunately, he hadn't gone to the bathroom for them so he greeted his familiar owners by peeing on us, or rather, on the towel that I had under him. (He went on me right before we left Athens too so I was getting used to such treatment!)
We got cleaned up, stopped by ToysRUs to purchase a playyard so that he could have access to the litter box in a controlled space, and drove home. We were thrilled when Izzy started walking around at home and actually climbed UP the stairs!!! We had almost lost him; he had been paralyzed, and now we watched as he climbed up the stairs, one paw after another. Praise God for bringing our cat back to us!! We are so grateful that He led us to Medvet and provided us with the resources for seeking that expert care!!
