2/18/12: Saying Good-bye to Winterplace
Elena, Chelsea, and Sierra take one last picture on the slopes. The girls have been making this trip ever since the seventh grade, and they are about to graduate. Wow... Many memories... We usually sleep in the ski lodge on air mattresses, but, due to a scheduling issue with the council office this year, we didn't have that option. It was always uncomfortable and cold, but kind of cool, actually, to open our eyes and watch the snow blowers in the night right on the mountain before us. For this year, we traveled to Princeton (about 15 miles away) to sleep in a Hampton. The girls enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and comfortable beds. I kind of missed the snow blowers, but I liked the comfy bed too :) They made the most of this last adventure-- even skiing down the mountain in their bikinis before the weather took a turn for the worse. I'm going to miss these girls and this trip... We've been coming to Winterplace ever since Britti was a freshman, and I'm hoping that Emmy's troop will continue the tradition. Unfortunately, our troop was literally the only ones to do the skiing so I'm not even sure if this event will be offered next year. I hope so. It was literally one of the main reasons that all of these girls kept with scouting.
Elena, Chelsea, and Sierra met their "West Virginia boys" last year, and they re-connected this year. These guys work at Winterplace, and they enjoyed visits from these pretty Ohio girls!
