Mall Playground-- May 6, 2013

Ellie-Kate really enjoyed the mall playground at Polaris after her back-to-back doctor appointments. Her ENT plucked her ear wax and gave her a clean bill of health. Her opthamalogist is a bit concerned about a potential eye muscle condition that might require surgery. We're praying that surgery won't be necessary, but we are grateful that we are keeping a close eye on the situation so that she doesn't lose any vision. Praise God for the folks at Nationwide Children's Hospital!

Ellie-Kate soccer-- May 10, 2013

GOAL!! Ellie-Kate's favorite word during soccer :)

Welcome, Buddy!!

Roger and I were so excited for a date night-- dinner at Casa (after a number of weeks without a date night) and a movie (for the first time in 16 months!). Dinner went well, and we had enough time to take our food home, put it in the fridge, and head out for a short walk on the bike path before the movie. Then, we met Buddy, er, well, Buddy found us. Unfortunately, stray cats rampantly roam on the bike trail, and he was so tiny that we thought that he was still hanging out with his family. He boldly came out on the trail, meowed at us, and followed us. Roger tried to see if any of the nearby soccer families wanted a cat. No luck. We then decided to take him home. So much for the movie! Well, given Izzy's recovery from the stroke, we couldn't keep him. Britti fell right in love, and, after just a few days, Britti and Ramon agreed to adopt Buddy, a beautiful tabby. The vet said that he's completely healthy and, surprisingly, a tiny two year old cat. Buddy is now the most spoiled kitty in Athens :) Welcome, Buddy!

5748 books!!!

Emmy's Girl Scout troop did a fantastic job on its Silver Award project-- combining with community partners to collect and donate books for the Athens City Schools Early Learning Center's Lending Library. Emmy worked with the East Elementary and Morrison-Gordon Elementary School Student Councils, and, coupled with her collection efforts around our neighborhood, she gathered over 1400 books! On May 3, we moved all of the books into the library, and the teachers were just beyond pleased with our work!

Blennerhassett Field Trip-- May 3, 2013

What an amazingly beautiful day for Emmy's field trip to Blennerhassett Island!! Emmy earned the trip by achieving honor roll during the first three grading periods. She had a great time with touring the mansion (with Kali, YuShin, and Patricia-- above) and taking a boat ride on the Ohio River (with Patricia and Emma).
