OCA-- October 5, 2012

Christie traveled up to Kent State University for the Ohio Communication Association conference. She enjoyed re-connecting with old friends, making new ones, and talking to people about her candidacy for Second Vice President of the National Communication Association. This photo includes colleagues, students, and alumni from Ohio University.

The back of Ellie-Kate's hair rather resembles a dark-haired Jan Brady... "Emmy, Emmy, Emmy!"

Ellie-Kate certainly had her game face on tonight!! She scored her first TWO goals of her young soccer career!! Go Ellie-Kate! She was the only one on our team to score this evening.
Go Purple Unicorns!

Ellie-Kate is very sensitive to the light so she started squinting by this picture.
Go purple unicorns!! Roger, Khyla, Caitlin, Breylen, Jack, Lance, Ellie-Kate, Meena, Nate, Elijah, and Olivia

September 29, 2012-- Emmy's soccer game

Emmy is doing a great job with her Athens Middle School soccer team. She has started at center mid-fielder, a very important position, since the beginning of the season, and the coach has even subbed her in as a striker later in a few games. She's doing wonderfully! Ellie-Kate has been less excited about watching her big sister than playing herself, but she usually finds some distraction-- such as this obvious dog toy on the ground at our home field.

Our New Couch-- 9/28/12

Roger takes on a toga look as he moves curtains from the dining room into the living room :)

Emmy and Ellie-Kate bond with Coco-- who was more than a bit confused by the change in furniture.

After having the same furniture for 20 years, we decided to use some of our summer teaching money on a sectional couch. We just love it! It makes our living room look so cozy and warm :)

Trip to Columbus-- 9/25/12

On Tuesday, September 25, we traveled to Columbus so that Ellie-Kate could meet with our pediatric opthamologist, Dr. Fogt. Ellie-Kate had been poked in the eye by her best friend, Jack, and we wanted to get her eye checked out by an expert. (The lady at Walmart had been reassuring, but she mentioned some possible unrelated problems.) Ellie-Kate was a real trooper at the appointment. Dr. Fogt was great too, and she found a muscular problem with Ellie-Kate's eye that might, in the long term, require surgery. (heavy sigh) We're supposed to come back in six months. In the meantime, we celebrated Ellie-Kate's great behavior with a trip to Chuckie Cheese. After stressing that she didn't want to be around CC, he won her heart by giving her free tickets. She played a game with him, posed for pics, and even ran after him to give a hug. Very cool!! What a way to pre-game for pics with the Disney characters in seven weeks!!
