Athens County Junior Fair rabbit show-- August 6, 2013

Emmy did a fantastic job with her market rabbits. To be fair, this round of market rabbits was the most challenging that we've ever had. Five of the baby bunnies died in the short time that we had them, and one of them, little Lucky, barely survived to come to the fair. Still, Emmy had enough for two market pens, and one of them made it to Final Drive. Emmy was announced as 5th place. (We later learned that the announcers made a mistake, and she actually got 6th, but, still, out of over 125 pens of rabbits, that placing was just amazing!!)

Emmy continued her winning ways and place 1st in intermediate showmanship with her favorite bunny, Lucky!

In Pro Showmanship, Chelsea entered the ring for the first time of the day, with her rabbit, Charlie. Chelsea won Pro last year, and the odds of winning two years in a row are just huge. However, Chelsea showed incredibly well, and she was stunned when she realized that Emmy, Emma, one of the Richardson boys, and herself all remained as possibilities for 1st place. Surely, she would at least place in her last year! Chelsea was so relieved and thrilled to win 1st place in her last competition of rabbit showmanship. What a great way to finish her outstanding career as a rabbit showman!

First day of the fair... August 4, 2013

Chelsea Meagan, as the 2011-2012 Athens County Junior Fair Queen, was in charge of the past royalty tea on August 4, 2013.

As a member of the Chauncey-Dover court, Ellie-Kate attended this year's royalty tea. Definitely liked the way that Chelsea arranged the room last year-- much more room! Ellie-Kate wasn't thrilled that they ran out of treat bags and pins too :(

Getting ready to move the ducks and the rabbits on to the fairgrounds...

Okay, our fair booth might never win any awards, but WE LOVE it :)

Ohio State Fair-- July 31 and August 1, 2013

Emmy competed in Party Planner at the Food and Nutrition
Day of the Ohio State Fair on July 31, 2013.

Emmy did a great job during her presentation for Pet Pals. Ironically, she shared information about shy pets, and, yes, Coco crawled under the table and refused to interact with the judge. Yup, that's a deduction...

Emmy picked up her last award of the 2013 dog show at the Ohio State Fair.

2013 Ohio State Fair

Emmy had a HUGE week at the Ohio State Fair. We arrived on Sunday, July 28-- right in time for the REO Speedwagon and STYX concert, and Emmy competed at the dog show on Monday and Tuesday, July 29 and 30. We drove home on Tuesday night, and she got right back up and competed in Party Planner on Wednesday, July 31. Although she didn't place at the time, we figured out through the online scores later that she was literally the next person in line to get an Outstanding of the Day, if they had placed one further. Next year, Emmy will work a tad bit harder on memorizing the My Plate website :) She scored perfect scores on her portfolio and interview, just missing two questions about My Plate. Next year...

On Thursday, August 1, we drove BACK up to the Ohio State Fair for one more day at the dog show. Emmy and Coco competed in Pet Pals and one more time in Rally. Once again, Emmy did awesome on her presentation and interview, but Coco was just a wreak. They were collapsing the rings, and the crashing sounds drove Coco into a panic. Emmy ended up with a Silver medal in Pet Pals and nothing in rally.

As soon as she picked up her silver medal, we dashed into the car and got back just in time for the last hour of soccer try-outs. Wow... Emmy's poor head was just filled to the brim with facts about dogs and food, and she had to dramatically shift gears and remember how to kick a soccer ball... and start to think about getting ready for the Athens County Fair...
